Ever since Igor Chudov brought the notion of SARS-COV-2 reinfections to my attention via his Substack I’ve been trying to get a sense of the magnitude of this issue. There’s not much data to analyze out there these days but I’ve been watching one remaining data set for a while and I’m concerned by what it’s showing. Specifically I’m referring to the UK Coronavirus Dashboard’s “Cases by episode of infection and specimen date” data.
I took the liberty of downloading the data and using it to create a chart showing the ratio of reinfections to initial (first time) infections. As can be seen by way of the resultant chart below the ratio of reinfections to initial infections is rising steadily. In fact, since January, 2022 the ratio has more than tripled rising from 10% to 35%.
If you’re like me I’m sure the related question you’d like answered is what percentage of these reinfections are happening in vaxxed people versus unvaxxed. Unfortunately the UK doesn’t make this information publicly available. Regardless there is clearly a trend of reinfections increasing relative to initial infections. What I’m wondering is should this be cause for concern?
What do you think?
I’m willing to the bet the reinfections are occurring primarily in the vaxxed. In fact I’d be willing to bet actual useful currency, like bread.
Peter A. McCullough has repeatedly stated that natural COIVD immunity is durable. He pointed out there was a study done - which I have no way of actually quoting - that showed immunity from the original Sars-cov from 17 or 18 years ago still provided immunity from Sars-cov-2.
I saw another article that pointed to immunity lasting at least 14 months, which at the time was the duration from original infection to the completion of the study.
